Having worked in a busy urban spa, I often noticed that some first-time spa-goers would benefit from a few guidelines on how to be a gracious spa guest. Most important---be on time. If you have booked an hour appointment and are 15 minutes late, don't expect to receive your full hour. Mostly likely, your therapist has a guest booked after your session. Plan to arrive for you appointment at least 15 minutes earlier. This way you can relax, de-stress and enjoy your spa experience even more. Turn off your cell phone. This is the time to relax. Be respectful of other guests--don't leave a mess in the locker room. If you are displeased with your service in any way, let the spa supervisor know immediately. The spa management always appreciates constructive feedback and can take immediate action for any situation. Check your spa bill and ask if any gratuity (tip) has been automatically included. If not, you should tip your therapist 15 to 20 per cent gratuity.
